| Christine (Tina) Duemler was born and raised
in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1984, Duemler moved with her family to a
farm in rural Wisconsin, where she lives today. While raising her
family in the country, she reconnected with her artistic roots. At
first she took a few art classes out of curiosity and then realized that
she loved it. She completed her undergraduate art degree in 1992 and Master of Fine Arts degree in 1998 from University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying with Professors Carol Pylant and David Becker. Since graduation, she has also studied with artists Scott Christensen, Matt Smith and Skip Whitcomb. Her influences include American artists Edward Hopper and Fairfield Porter, and Dutch painter Jan Vermeer. Duemler teaches painting and drawing at Blackhawk Technical College. |

| Approach to painting | ||
| Duemler has incorporated plein air techniques into her way of painting. She finds that by painting from direct observation she can better express the feeling of light, colors, and shadows - the feeling of the place. When not teaching, Duemler travels throughout the United States, creating studies of the places she visits. These later provide her with a foundation for larger paintings. |
